(There were two iterations of Glutton for Punishment: - Every x points of damage taken by Abraxxus give him +y maximum life.
- Every x points of health that Abraxxus is healed give him +y maximum life.
Both of these were very abusable by poison. I don't think Abra needs more maximum life either. However, the idea behind them was that Abraxxus had to make himself a target to improve his presence late game. I'll add another non-serious version of Glutton for Punishment which would make Abraxxus a rather interesting hero:
- Every x points of damage taken by Abraxxus gives him +y experience. Abraxxus does not otherwise gain experience at the same rate as regular heroes. If he dies, he loses any progress he's made towards the next level.
I am going to ignore numerical issues and potential abuses here (I know they exist). If Abraxxus had this ability, he would surely like to tower-dive as soon as possible to as low as possible to get experience. This might make for an interesting pre-troops game of "catch the Abra". He would have to be extremely pushy in-lane, because if no-one is harassing him, he gets no exp. Conversely if he does it right, his lane goes well.
Do I think this ability is particularly fitting for Abraxxus as a hero? Nope. Am I going to add it? Very unlikely, it's got a ton of issues, and the design is just Abra's motto of "I'm here, deal with it", ×20. There isn't really enough counterplay for it to be anything but an exercise in frustration. Still it's an interesting alternative.)
---
Anyway, everyone's favourite walking steak needs an innate. I am not giving him an aura because 'being alive' is very easy for Abraxxus. I wouldn't mind something that helps his team, because right now he just does his own thing (like most heroes :/). Any ideas?

He's not the most thematically appropriate hero for this idea, but I suppose every x points of damage dealt to Abraxxus could make him bleed out, and his blood could do something for allies.
My only problem with that is that he's already nigh-unstoppable on his own anyway if you build tanky, that would just encourage it even more, and we don't need to deal with Abraxxus's hyperbuffed allies when we can barely deal with Abraxxus himself.
I'm suspecting that something based specifically on the damage he takes isn't the way to go. Something that captures the flavor similarly in a much better functional way, perhaps, would be something that provided benefit if Abraxxus is under a certain threshold percentage of his maximum HP (that does not involve healing or regeneration in any way).
Capitalizing on my earlier idea, then, perhaps Abraxxus bleeds out profusely due to his massive size whenever he's below a threshold percentage HP, covering his entire body and his cleaver in his horrific, cursed blood. The physical motions of attacking his enemies (includes Thresher, which is still drenched in his blood as well) splatters his blood all over them, providing some debuff (increase damage taken is the first thing that comes to mind, but that might be OP and someone else can probably think of something more creative) for a few seconds.
I really don't like suggesting new content (which is basically a buff) for Abraxxus while he's still basically unkillable, but I don't think any ability in the game should be useless, either. The above seems to be fairly useful to both Abraxxus and any nearby involved teammates while actually discouraging him from building to broken tank levels - if he encourages his enemies to focus him last in every teamfight, he has a dead innate. If he doesn't, he could potentially rack up all kinds of kills. It also doesn't incur a permanent bonus, which was probably the main issue with Power of Oneself to begin with.

Just take Carnage-Aggramagoth's passive (who is fittingly, a pit lord as well);
Skill 4: AccumulHATE Passive. Whenever Aggramagoth takes damage, a flat amount of damage is added to his next skill or attack. Stacks up to a threshold.
Translated to RoW terms, this could be, oh, I don't know
"name" Whenever Abraxxus takes direct damage (to exclude ailments), 3/6/9/12 damage or knockback distance (depending if the stacks are expanded on Bull Rush, which doesn't deal damage I think?) is added to his next skill or attack. Stacks up to a threshold (% of maximum health? 7% maybe?).
