A few points of clarification:
-Are we doing pick/ban like usual tournaments? If so, how many bans per team? -Are there any banned items?

I wanted to keep the rules simple.
The game will automatically pick all-mid. Use -t (ban ban ban ban elfpick legionpick legionpick elfpick) First tower down wins. Legion/elves will be allocated randomly. Rounds are best of one to keep things quick.
I don't really want to ban things because I'm interested in seeing how best to run a 2v2 lane, but if all 4 players agree to ban anything (before elf/legion is allocated) that's fine.
Does that seem fair?

The only thing I'd have a particular problem with would be first tower down wins - that seems like it'd very dramatically favor the earliest (not necessarily even the best) pushers. Granted, I guess that's okay if you're using this to get an idea of who does well in pushwars, but I don't really think first tower down captures the essence of "how to run a 2v2 lane" as stated above - usually it's possible to come back from a tower going down (even on all lanes!) in an actual game, and while it would probably be harder in midwars, several previous games haven't really given me the "hopeless" feeling, so I'd guess comebacks in AM are possible (if less likely). Besides, if it's a time thing, you're already only doing best of one, and I seriously doubt we have THAT many teams coming.

I hear you, but the goal of the tournament is "winning a lane", not winning the game. Once a tower is down, heroes are starting to roam and a 'lane' becomes meaningless, so that's my stop point

Well, in the game me, Walter, Drac and Hector did that wasn't really the case. And where are you going to "roam" in a midlane game?

I predict legion will be at a huge advantage here (sorry to sound like a broken record). They just way outclass Elves in the early game pushing department, IMO.
Plot Twist: make all heroes available for either side?!

I guess that's a good point. Best of one in the current meta does seem a bit...unappealing. >.>

Once you go -ap, there's no going back! Also a number of heroes are assumed to be on a certain faction in the code (Hakkar is the obvious one). The easiest thing I can think of to make Legion weaker as a whole is to make the voidmasochist worse, either his max health, initial mana, or max mana. Alternatively we can do best of 3 rounds. I'm not opposed to it, but I don't think that'll solve the problem because you'll complain that whoever gets Legion twice wins. Walter: I am taking 2v2 to be representative of early-game in a 5v5 on a single lane. That model breaks down by the times towers fall.

Good games everyone. Sorry I had to leave early, had somewhere I needed to be. I'll check the shoutbox regularly this week for any signs of games and I should be there~

I ended up playing six 2v2s, which is more than enough for me It really comes down not both dying at once, particularly around 25-30 minutes in when a tower will fall in one push. Interesting stuff.

Pretty much like standard mobas. If an entire dies at around 25-30 as stated, it's usually game over.

If the game is first-tower-down-wins then sure RoW has pretty good capacity for comebacks in my experience, even when one team is down towers/kills. Partly because items don't mean everything, and partly because towers become butter as the game progresses so winning is never *that* far away.
